First trip of the Sykhiv tram
Today the first tram with Sykhiv passengers made its first trip to the city centre of Lviv. Representatives of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Lviv City Council, “Onur” and EGIS Ukraina, company supervising the construction process, attended the opening of the “Tram to Sykhiv” project.
The new route connects the largest residential area (almost 150 thousand citizens) with the city center. This project will improve the reliability, efficiency and intensity of municipal electric transport, which will drastically reduce the use and emissions from cars.
11.5 km of track were laid in both directions. The project was financed by EBRD, Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature and Nuclear Safety of Germany and Lviv City Council. Construction was done by “ONUR” (Turkey).
