Lviv aims to attract Japanese business for cooperation, following the example of Düsseldorf
09 Apr 2025

On April 7–8, Lviv welcomed distinguished guests – Mr. Tomohiro Yoden, Director General of the JETRO Office in Warsaw , and Mr. Kazuyoshi Sugano, Director General of the JETRO Office in Düsseldorf. Their visit marked an important step toward expanding cooperation between Lviv and Japan.

Together with the Danish Business Association, the European Business Association, and the German-Ukrainian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Ukraine), the discussions focused on the potential for attracting Japanese investment, developing trade, and supporting entrepreneurship in Lviv.

A central topic was the example of Düsseldorf, home to a strong Japanese business community and a well-developed environment for Japanese companies. Lviv plans to use this very experience as a model for creating its own Japan Desk — a specialized platform for supporting and facilitating Japanese business in the city.

Notably, on May 24, Düsseldorf will host its annual Japan-Tag, an event that attracts over 500,000 visitors and symbolizes the cultural partnership between Germany and Japan. Lviv, in turn, aspires to foster a similar synergy in Ukrainian-Japanese relations — to the benefit of both nations.
