The Minister of Health of the Republic of Lithuania, Marija Jakubauskienė, visited the UNBROKEN Ukraine center in Lviv, where she got acquainted with the work of medical teams, talked with doctors and patients undergoing rehabilitation after injuries and torture.

It is all because of the support of the Lithuanian government that a large-scale reconstruction of the rehabilitation center in Bryukhovychi — one of the largest facilities in the UNBROKEN ecosystem — is underway. The project is being implemented in cooperation with Invest in Lviv, which has become a key link in communication between Lithuanian partners, the city government and international donors.

As a result of the reconstruction, the area of ​​the rehabilitation complex in Bryukhovychi will be increased almost threefold, more than 100 beds, a modern swimming pool, areas for sports, creativity and gardening will be equipped. New buildings, engineering systems, elevators an d energy-efficient solutions will ensure comfort and full accessibility for military and civilian patients.

“We are grateful to the Ukrainians for their courage. Lithuania is doing everything possible to help in the development of UNBROKEN and support academic cooperation between our university hospitals,” said Marija Jakubauskienė.

According to Rostyslav Lisovyi, Director of Economic Activities of the First Medical Association of Lviv, construction work in Bryukhovychi is progressing actively: the completion of new buildings has already been completed, the floors, roof, elevators have been installed, the boiler room has been modernized and the installation of engineering systems is underway.

Thanks to the effective work of Invest in Lviv, it was possible to ensure systematic interaction with Lithuanian institutions and coordinate the attraction of funding from the Lithuanian government through the Centrinė projektų valdymo agentūra (CPVA), the Red Cross of Ukraine and Japan, GIZ Ukraine and the NARBUTAS company.
