Representatives of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization visit Lviv

Today, at the City Hall, the Mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, met with representatives of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). During the meeting, they discussed the city’s experience during the war and various projects in the fields of medicine, innovation, and business.

Andriy Sadovyi thanked the guests for the implemented projects — entrepreneurship training for veterans, financial support for establishing Japan Desk Lviv, and support for the financial forum. He also spoke in more detail about the UNBROKEN ecosystem, which is being actively developed with the support of international donors, and about other important areas they can join. These include the renovation of the prosthetic plant and the production of prosthetics, which are critically important for people with disabilities, especially veterans.

“The prosthetic plant consists of large buildings that need to be revived with new energy. Many veterans are in need of prosthetics now, and you had the chance to see this with your own eyes. That’s why this is one of our top priorities,” noted Andriy Sadovyy.

We are happy to be here in Lviv and see such significant results from the work of UNBROKEN. It’s important to know that we contributed to this. It motivates us to continue our cooperation for the benefit of the people who need it,” said Noriko Takahashi, project manager and industrial development specialist.

“I like the idea of UNBROKEN — an ecosystem that includes a rehabilitation center, mental health support, prosthetics, and more. It’s a new approach for the world, one that provides a comprehensive path to rehabilitation, recovery, and a new life. You are doing important work by supporting these people and giving them the motivation to live,” emphasized Eduardo Moreira, project coordinator of the PLaCED program.

The meeting also included a discussion on the implementation of programs to support business and innovation. After the meeting, the delegation visited the UNBROKEN center, where children and adults affected by Russia’s war in Ukraine receive medical treatment, prosthetics, and rehabilitation.

As a reminder, in early July, Japan Desk Lviv — the first Japanese business support service in Ukraine — was launched in Lviv. This is a municipal Japanese-language service center that provides personalized support for Japanese companies in Lviv: from consultations on investing or starting a business to partner search and full guidance on the local economic environment.
