12 Jun 2024

On June 12, a quadripartite memorandum was signed at the Ukraine Recovery Conference between the Central Project Management Agency of the Lithuanian government, the Red Cross Society, Lviv City Council, and the First Medical Association of Lviv. The Lithuanian government will allocate 5.6 million euros, the Red Cross Society will provide 2.5 million euros, and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) will provide expensive rehabilitation equipment.

The project envisages the reconstruction of the existing Unbroken Ukraine rehabilitation center in Bryukhovychi with the addition of two new buildings. The new rehabilitation center will have an area of more than 9,000 square meters and will have 106 rehabilitation beds, a modern swimming pool, and landscaping consisting of various rehabilitation areas.

In addition, URC 2024 hosted the event “Social Recovery of Ukraine – Local Approach” organized by the Ukrainian Red Cross Society, Caritas Ukraine, and Caritas-Spes Ukraine with the support of the German Red Cross Society.

During the event, representatives of the government, civil society of Ukraine and Germany, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations and businesses discussed social and humanitarian aspects of the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine.

Lviv City Mayor Andriy Sadovyy presented the role of Lviv and the Unbroken Ukraine ecosystem in Ukraine’s recovery. The event was opened by Volodymyr Rudkovsky, a veteran and mentor at the Unbroken National Rehabilitation Center, who shared his path of recovery and rehabilitation.

It should be noted that the Ukrainian Red Cross Society is a regular partner and donor of Unbroken Ukraine. It has helped to equip the rehabilitation center in Lviv on Mykolaychuk Street and reconstruct the rehabilitation center in Bryukhovychi.

Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 is an annual conference that continues a series of thematic events dedicated to the recovery and long-term reconstruction of Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.
