The vehicle will be used for practical training in mobility and independence for patients recovering from serious injuries. The project is part of Škoda Auto’s long-term support for rehabilitation initiatives and assistance for people with disabilities.
Mladá Boleslav, February 23, 2026 – Through the Partnership Foundation, Škoda Auto has supported rehabilitation efforts for people affected by the war in Ukraine. The ceremonial handover of the specially modified Škoda Octavia to the UNBROKEN rehabilitation center took place on February 20 in Týnec nad Labem.
Specially Adapted Vehicle for Practical Mobility Training
The donated vehicle is the first of its kind that Škoda Auto has provided to the UNBROKEN center. It was created by modifying a development prototype from Škoda Auto’s technical development department and adapted to meet the needs of people with limited mobility, including the possibility of hand-controlled driving.
At the rehabilitation center, the vehicle will be used for practical training in getting in and out of the car and performing other everyday mobility tasks that are essential for helping patients return to independent living after severe injuries.
Thanks to its special modifications, the vehicle can simulate real-life situations in a safe environment within the rehabilitation center, under the supervision of doctors and physiotherapists. It will support the comprehensive rehabilitation of patients, including wounded defenders and civilians who have undergone amputations or suffered other serious injuries.
“The UNBROKEN rehabilitation center embodies the incredible strength and determination of people who strive to stand on their feet again even after severe injuries. We believe that the donated Škoda Octavia will help patients regain greater independence and self-reliance,” said Michal Kadera, Head of External Affairs at Škoda Auto.
UNBROKEN Rehabilitation Center
The UNBROKEN rehabilitation center operates as part of the Lviv City Hospital and is a unique facility that combines modern medicine, physiotherapy, and psychological support. Every year, specialists from Ukraine and abroad help thousands of children and adults return to normal life after trauma, amputations, and war-related injuries.
Long-Term Support for People with Disabilities
Support for this project continues Škoda Auto’s long-standing commitment to assisting people with disabilities. The car manufacturer consistently focuses on strengthening mobility and independence through initiatives such as Škoda Bez Bariér and Škoda Handy, which help people with disabilities obtain driving licenses and facilitate the purchase and modification of vehicles with hand controls.
Škoda Auto also maintains long-term partnerships with organizations such as Konto Bariéry, Cesta za snem, and the Czech Association of Paralyzed People, and actively participates in charitable and awareness-raising initiatives.
Part of this support also includes protected workplaces, which the car manufacturer operates directly at its production plants in cooperation with the KOVO trade union, employing hundreds of people with various forms of disabilities.
