Lviv became the first Ukrainian city to join the global initiative Strong Cities Network
19 Jan 2024

This was announced by Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyy during his visit to the United States to participate in the Mayors’ Forum, which began on January 16 in Washington.

As a member of the Strong Cities Network, Lviv receives partnership opportunities and tools to improve cooperation between communities and law enforcement agencies, promote inclusive and tolerant societies, and more. First and foremost, it is about creating a safe environment for citizens to jointly counter the challenges of terrorism, extremism, and other social threats.

The Strong Cities Network is a global initiative launched in 2015 that brings together local governments, including megacities, states, counties and small municipalities representing all major global regions, to share experiences and develop strategies to prevent radicalization, strengthen equality and support the development of urban resilience in challenging environments. While each city faces its own unique issues and local challenges, the network members are committed to supporting common goals, tools, and approaches.

The Strong Cities Network brings together more than 200 cities, including: Rio de Janeiro, San Francisco, Strasbourg, Athens, Amsterdam, Bratislava, and others.
