A new Prosthetics and Orthotics Center based on UNBROKEN Ukraine opened in Lviv

On May 10, an internationally recognized prosthetics and orthotics center was opened at the UNBROKEN National Rehabilitation Center in Lviv. The center will be able to manufacture more than 1,000 prostheses a year, train future prosthetists, and conduct research and development from all over Ukraine.

The one-story building, with a total area of 1,000 square meters, houses a prosthesis manufacturing center, a classroom for training and research, rooms for fitting and testing prostheses by patients, and a patio for recreation. The most modern equipment (AFT, Romedis) for the manufacture of prostheses for upper and lower limbs, worth 650 thousand euros, was installed here.

An important component of the project is the training of prosthetics and orthotics specialists according to ISPO (International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics) standards. The center will be the first in Ukraine to meet all international standards for orthopedics and prosthetics.

In addition, the Center’s specialists will develop their initiatives and start-ups for the national prosthetics program to share their experience and increase the number of specialists in this field.

The initiative is being implemented within the framework of the Special Support Program for Ukraine/ EU4ResilientRegions project implemented by GIZ Ukraine and funded by the German government.
