Lviv City Council has approved the restoration and adaptation of the first-floor premises in the historic landmark building at 20–22 Academician Hnatiuka Street. The respective resolution was supported by 36 city councillors.

The premises are located in a building designated as a local architectural landmark (heritage protection No. 4265-Lv). Railway ticket offices operated there for nearly 60 years, until 2021.

In 2023, Lviv City Council held an investment competition for the use of the premises. As a result, Choven Publishing House, a Lviv-based publishing house affiliated with Lviv Media Forum, was selected as the investor. Following the competition, the city and the publishing house signed an investment agreement.

The project envisages the restoration and adaptation of the first-floor premises into a multifunctional public space. The plans include a bookstore, a reading room and an arts space.

At the same time, the resolution does not provide for the transfer of the premises into private ownership. Ownership of the property will remain with the Lviv City Territorial Community. Lviv City Council has also designated the property as not subject to privatisation.

Thus, the city is engaging a private investor in the restoration and redevelopment of municipal property while retaining ownership on behalf of the community and ensuring the preservation and restoration of a historic landmark.
