The building of St. Luke’s Hospital was modernized in Lviv
26 Feb 2025

A large-scale energy-saving project has been implemented at St. Luke’s Hospital of the First Lviv Medical Territorial Union, located at 23 Navrotskoho Street. The modernization will reduce the hospital’s energy consumption by 33%, allowing the saved funds to be reinvested in the facility’s development and the improvement of medical services.

The project was carried out with financial support from the European Investment Bank in the form of a grant under the Extraordinary Credit Program for the Recovery of Ukraine, administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The grant from the European Investment Bank, along with co-financing from the city, covered insulation of the façade and basement, reconstruction of the entrance area, and glazing of balconies. The thermal modernization work began in May last year. The total project cost amounts to UAH 40.38 million, including UAH 33.65 million from the EIB grant and UAH 6.73 million from the city budget.

St. Luke’s Hospital is part of the First Lviv Medical Territorial Union and serves over 50,000 patients annually. It provides medical care to civilians, military personnel, and patients of the UNBROKEN National Rehabilitation Center, where wounded Ukrainian defenders receive prosthetics and rehabilitation.

Under the same program, the city is also implementing two additional projects:

  • Reconstruction and expansion of School No. 41 (19 Makarenka St., Briukhovychi): renovation of classrooms, a cafeteria, sports halls, and an assembly hall.
  • Insulation of the façade at St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital of the First Medical Association of Lviv (4 Pylypa Orlyka St.).
