On July 19, an official ceremony to hand over equipment for the UNBROKEN Prosthetics and Orthotics Center took place. The ceremony was attended by the permanent representative of UNDP in Ukraine, Jaco Cilliers, the first deputy mayor of Lviv, Andriy Moskalenko, the head of the investment and projects department, Andriy Pavliv, and the deputy director for development and investment attraction of the First Medical Territorial Association of Lviv, Volodymyr Fedorov.

During the meeting with the permanent representative of UNDP in Ukraine, Jaco Cilliers, the mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, emphasized the significance of this initiative for the community. “The cooperation between UNDP and the Lviv City Council is extremely important for our community. We are grateful to our long-term partners for their assistance! Thanks to the modern prosthetic and rehabilitation tools provided to the UNBROKEN centers, our patients, most of whom have been affected by enemy aggression, will receive the highest quality care. This is an important step towards strengthening resilience and the rehabilitation system in Lviv and Ukraine.”

Thanks to the assistance of UNDP in Ukraine, a robotic milling machine for printing prosthetic elements, stump scanners, software, and mobile applications for scanning stumps and printing prosthetic elements were purchased. This equipment will allow the process of manufacturing prosthetic elements and stump sockets to be accelerated by five times. The Italian manufacturer Roboticom – Fabrica Machinale will conduct training for the center’s prosthetists and provide support in using the equipment as part of grant assistance.

Additionally, as part of the cooperation between UNDP in Ukraine and the First Medical Association of Lviv, rehabilitation equipment and equipment for eye prosthetics were purchased.

The equipment was procured as part of the project “Support for the Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities Caused by War,” implemented by UNDP in Ukraine with funding from the governments of the Republic of Korea and Germany.

We sincerely thank our partners for their invaluable contribution to the support and development of UNBROKEN Ukraine!
