Lviv celebrates the completion of the project “Urban Public Transport of Ukraine” in cooperation with the European Investment Bank
15 Apr 2024

Today, representatives of the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, Lviv City Council, the European Investment Bank (EIB), a delegate of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, and the heads of Lvivelectrotrans and Electron visited the tram depot and summarized the project’s implementation. The event was also attended by the Invest in Lviv team, which provided support for the project.

As part of the project, the city purchased 10 new low-floor trams. Lviv received €17.4 million to purchase ten five-section trams. All 10 Lviv-made trams are already running in the city. The total cost of the project is 200 million euros. The European Union provided technical support of €3.5 million to the project. In total, the EIB has provided €2 billion to Ukraine since the beginning of the war.

The expansion and renovation of the tram fleet is relevant and long-awaited in Lviv, as more than 100,000 internally displaced persons live there because of the war, and the number of people with disabilities as a result of hostilities has increased significantly.

Representatives of the European Investment Bank and the European Union also honored the memory of the fallen Ukrainians by laying flowers on the Field of Mars in Lviv.

We thank our partners for their support and trust!
