Lviv received the ninth five-section “Electron” tram as part of the “Urban Public Transport of Ukraine” project of the European Investment Bank
19 Jan 2024

Ten five-section “Electron” trams are being purchased by the city within the framework of the “Urban Public Transport of Ukraine” project of the European Investment Bank, which is implemented by the Lviv City Council together with the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, and LME “Lvivelecktrotrans”. As of now, Lviv has received nine trams. The last one, the tenth, is expected in February this year.

The new tram must undergo all preparatory work and testing of driving characteristics and braking systems. Also, devices of the automated fare payment system will be installed in the tram and an inventory number will be assigned. After conducting all the tests, the tram will be able to run on route No. 8, which connects Sykhiv and the central part of the city. Eight similar trams, received in previous years, are already operating on this route.

We will remind that the project “Urban Public Transport of Ukraine” is a framework loan from the European Investment Bank, within which the city received 17.4 million euros for the purchase of ten five-section trams.
