Lviv took third place at the 9th awarding of the “European Capital of Innovation” award in Marseille this year and received a financial award in the amount of 100,000 euros. The city will direct these funds to the creation of an Excellence Center in the field of medical technology in Lviv based on UNBROKEN Ukraine, which integrates medicine, science and innovation! The center will enable the creation of even more inventions to help wounded Heroes. Also, Lviv officially became part of the European Innovation Community, which was founded by the European Commission.

The European Capital of Innovation Awards is an annual award that has existed since 2014 to reward those European cities that are open to experimentation, technological development and innovation for the benefit of their residents. In 2023, the European Capital of Innovation Award consisted of two categories: The European Capital of Innovation and the European Rising Innovative City.
